About me

I believe that we all need to find meaning in life, but sometimes we get stuck. You might have experienced a recent loss. Bereavement, the end of a relationship, loss of health or loss of employment may have left you unable to find purpose in the present and unable to envision a meaningful future. Or perhaps something from your past is still haunting you. Perhaps there is no one 'big' issue troubling you but there a feeling that you aren't living your best life. Whatever brings you to counselling, I'm here for you.

My name is Pamela and I am a person-centred counsellor and breathworker. I specialise in working with individuals who are experiencing trauma, grief and loss. I understand that these issues don't exist in isolation; you can't always pack your problems in a box and 'just get on with things', it can seep into every other aspect of your life, sometimes when least expected.

Perhaps you have struggled in the past to really feel heard by others. Perhaps you have felt that you don't quite fit in and have never quite known why. I am fascinated by all our differences and similarities. Identifying as a Highly Sensitive Person means I have a tendency to really focus in on the subtleties in our relationship, in noticing the nuances and in utterly respecting your unique, personal experience of your world.

I therefore, offer a holistic service that sees the whole of you as a person and we work with whatever is important for you in each session.

What's next?

There are many different types of counselling out there with counsellors offering a range of therapies and if you are new to counselling this might seem confusing. Something has drawn you to click on my profile and that, to me, is a good enough place to start. I believe that the relationship between the client and the counsellor is key to bringing about therapeutic change.

Why not contact me today to arrange a free 20 minute consultation? We will soon discover if working together feels right for you.

Our counselling relationship:

I will listen to you with compassion and without judgement. This will be your time, a safe and confidential space just for you. Together we will explore what is coming up for you in the moment and I will be curious about how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours all interact.

Talking and feeling absolutely heard can be transformative. It can help you discover new things about yourself,  find the answers that previously felt just out of reach and discover your own personal meanings in life. It might just take a couple of sessions or we may work for considerably longer than that. Each counselling relationship is completely unique and I will be here to walk alongside you for as long as feels right for you. I'm committed to inclusivity so no matter what your background or beliefs, I will offer respect, an open mind and a curiosity for what it is really like to inhabit your world.

Counselling can be offered as a stand alone therapy or in conjunction with breathwork. Working with the conscious connected breath can be a safe, supportive and accessible way to tune into what is happening in your body, release trapped emotion and trauma, find new answers to the questions you have in life or, equally importantly, to find a space of rest and deep relaxation.

I offer a confidential, empathic and safe space where we can work together to make your life meaningful again.

Member organisations

COSCA
College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSCA)

COSCA is the professional body for counselling and psychotherapy in Scotland, and seeks to advance all forms of counselling and psychotherapy and the use of counselling skills by promoting best practice and through the delivery of a range of sustainable services. COSCA Counsellor Accreditation is a pathway to entry onto the UKRC.

It is a requirement of all individual and organisational members of COSCA to abide by its Statement of Ethics and Code of Practice and be accountable to the Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
