About me

I orginally trained as a counsellor and CBT therapist but have since trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities.  This enables me to tailor therapy to each individual's needs.  Further to my therapy skills, I am a mindfulness practitioner and use this experience to complement my therapy work.

I have treated individuals in clinical, private, community and virtual settings. I use a collaborative and integrative approach and have experience working with issues such as; Panic Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Agoraphobia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Relationship Problems, Sleep Disturbances, Abuse, Poor Self Esteem, Social Phobia, Specific Phobias, Anger Management, Eating Disorders,  Addictions,  Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Worrying, Grief and more.

My role is to create a safe space where you can feel relaxed enough that we can work together to facilitate positive change and to utilise your core skills to create new choices and to make changes with unhelpful thoughts, emotions and behaviours. I provide a non-judgemental, confidential and trusting space for you to talk, and be heard where you can explore issues which cause you distress.

We will work together to resolve these issues. I will support you to find ways to express and understand your thoughts, emotions and behaviours and to recognise that positive change is possible in times of difficulty.

I have experience running weight management intervention groups designed to focus on the individual's relationship with food and examine how this affects their wellbeing and weight maintenance.

I have experience of working within the IAPT service, providing treatment to those suffering with acute mental health issues, such as anxiety issues and depression.

I run group therapy sessions which provide an Introduction to Counselling Skills and Grief and Loss support.  These allow those waiting for access to 1-1 therapy the chance to begin working on their issues and to prepare for their individual therapy journey.

I also have many years experience of working in private practice with young people and adults with varying mental health issues.  I offer a warm style and incorporate humour which helps people to feel comfortable as we work together to find the correct therapy tools for them.

I work online via video call or telephone.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
