About me

I am an integrative Counsellor working in and around Worcester. Through talking therapy, I have helped clients manage a range of different issues including Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Trauma, Abuse and Relationship Problems.

Focusing on the importance of listening without judgement, I can creatively adapt my approach to suit the needs of clients. I operate within the humanistic modalities of Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Person-Centred therapy to provide a unique healing journey for clients.

If you're feeling low, lost, stressed, confused, have low self-esteem or feel negative about yourself, I can help you make sense of where you are today, and work with you to help create positive change.

I work as a 1-2-1 and group therapist, in a range of settings. Whether it be the community hub at Warndon, or the Psychiatric hospital in Birmingham, I am passionate about providing the right kind of therapy for a range of needs. Integrative Counselling enables me to provide that, and the range of conditions / experiences I can (and do) work with is increasing week by week. Group and 1-2-1 therapy requires different sets of skills, and both complement each other, enabling me to continually develop my skills and work techniques.

Why counselling?

People come to counselling for a range of different reasons. These include:

1) Not having a neutral, non-judgemental person to talk things through with.

2) Being scared of the future

3) Not being able to sleep due to unwelcome thoughts circling in their minds

4) Regretting the past and wishing things had worked out differently

5) Feeling suicidal

6) Engaging in self-harm and wanting to put a stop to this

7) Realising they have developed unhealthy habits or coping mechanisms

8) Having suffered (or are suffering) from abuse or traumatic life events

9) Suffering from a loss (either death or otherwise - e.g. a relationship ending)

This list is not exhaustive; you may be going through something else entirely different. Counselling provides a safe space for you to understand what's going on for you.

Why me?

One of the reasons I love being a Counsellor, is because everyone is unique. Every client I work with provides a new and exciting journey for both you and I. Whatever you've been through, whatever your story, I will promise to treat you, and your story with the respect, care and compassion it deserves. By conversing without judgement, I believe that we can find understanding, acceptance and the potential to heal.

It's not easy to accept that you need help. It's also not easy to find the right counsellor to provide that help. Different clients need different things, and not one counsellor can provide everything for everyone. My experiences and training have helped me become ready to offer you:

* A safe, confidential space with someone to explore your problems with without being judged.
* Empathy. When I truly understand your story, I can offer to join you where you're at so you no longer feel totally alone.
* An honest, respectful, compassionate relationship that is right for what you need.
* A way of working that puts you at the heart of the relationship.
* User-friendly explanations of useful theories and models (where relevant, applicable and useful to you).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
