About me

Hi I'm Mike and I’m passionate about helping people find their voice and understand their authentic self so they can move forward with greater purpose and meaning. I will do everything in my ability to appreciate your world and what makes you tick.

Why counselling?

What is the effect of being seen, heard, valued, and understood? It can help us to develop a stronger relationship to ourselves and others. Understanding our authentic self can help us search for meaning and purpose and also provide direction.

There are times when we struggle with life, however these challenges can be overcome. Are you feeling anxious or stressed? Do you find yourself pre-occupied with worry? Do you need a space to start talking?

Whatever the reason, deciding to invest time into self-exploration takes huge courage and will allow you to move forward in life by developing your self-awareness.

How counselling can help

Counselling allows us to look at your options and whether they can bring about growth, affect your ability to cope and understand yourself more. I am passionate about building strong relationships to ensure meaningful connection and make space for exploration and growth.

Working together in a person-centred way, I can help you to get things off your chest. If you feel I might be the person to walk alongside you as you take that step forward, then reach out for a chat.

In addition to my private practice I have spent the last 5 years building up a social enterprise with a focus on peer support and community connection. While this has allowed me to work with a range of people, I am experienced at working with men.

Next steps

I can offer you a free 15-minute phone call and then if you feel you would like to work with me, I can book you in for regular sessions or whenever is right for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
