About me

Hi, I’m Maya.

My aim is to help you use counselling as a place to be heard and to feel comfortable and safe.

I work with clients living with various issues such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, stress and so on. I am also able to help clients with a range of major life events such as bereavement, job loss and relationship breakdown.

I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings.
I provide an authentic and warm environment for you to feel comfortable enough to discuss things with me that you may not feel you can with others.

Our family and friends can be helpful to speak to, but I understand sometimes we need to speak to an uninvolved third party who can be there to allow you to feel able to discuss things you may normally struggle to do.

I’ve had my own counselling and found it truly helpful and would love to provide others with a positive experience of counselling.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold numerous CPCAB counselling qualifications including;

- CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills

- CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies

- CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

I currently hold a registered BACP membership. As a BACP member, I ensure the Ethical Framework is applied throughout my work, informing and enhancing my counselling practice in many ways, including maintaining confidentiality, identifying any limitations and assessing any possible risk factors.

I have worked with a range of issues, including complex NHS cases, which has provided broad and extensive experience.

I have also conducted referrals and assessments throughout my time at both organisations.

I have DBS clearance in my current role.

I am a Person Centred counsellor, which encourages the clients to find solutions appropriate for them. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space for the client to explore their thoughts and feelings. This creates a trusting bond between the two parties which is vital. The counsellor must walk alongside the client on their journey, not lead them. I believe qualities such as authenticity and empathy are vital in order to ensure a trusting relationship.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
