About me

I wonder if you have experienced corona virus (Covid-19) and if I can help you understand your experience? I care about the consequences this has on your health and any feelings of isolation, loneliness and loss you may be going through.

I'm an experienced counsellor who can offer you support for when you are feeling anxious, having panic attacks, or when its all too much.  If you are also an adult survivor of child sexual abuse or other traumatic experiences I can offer a safe, confidential space to talk about how you can manage this.

The way I work:

I am an experienced humanistic integrative counsellor. In other words, I offer you a personal approach for your counselling and I draw from a range of other methods, including Gestalt, creativity and CBT. I use the three-stage trauma focussed approach which includes stabilisation, processing and integration to help you manage emotions and thought processes, understand your experience and memories. I won’t judge, I am open and honest and I welcome feedback.

Who I work with:

I pride myself on being able to work with a range of situation, but specialise in trauma and anxiety and depression.  I have been privileged to work with people aged between 17 and 84; young adult lone parents/carers exploring parenting, debt, confidence, family issues and with clients exploring past history, childhood and adult trauma and abuse as well as those with a history of drug/ alcohol dependence; those with suicidal thoughts and ideation, grief and loss.

How I work:

Do you want short targeted sessions? Or would your rather have a one-off session to deal with an immediate something? I am here to work with you in a way that suits your need.

To support you through counselling on-line I have undertaken specialist training to work with you using remote access including Zoom and email. For nearly three years I was a Samaritans' volunteer listener, and I’m happy to accommodate requests for telephone counselling, if this is your preferred method.

I use a range of techniques and creative methods - what's known as psychological education - to help you understand how the brain/mind body are connected, how your emotions affect you and how your thoughts can be managed to support more positive outcomes.  Primarily we talk about what your concerns are.

A little bit extra

Having completed the trauma informed training (stabilisation, processing and integration) with STARS - Dorset Rape Crisis during the summer of 2020 I now work with STARS’ clients including adult survivors of domestic and child sexual abuse.

As a trauma survivor myself working with STARS means I can offer you a trauma informed approach and provide a safe space to help heal and learn; supporting you to learn about the effects of trauma on emotions, learn about your brain and body and help you move on.

I work confidentially and maintain records in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) & the Data Protection Act 2018 and I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).

You can choose from online, telephone and face to face counselling. You and I  would have an initial chat and create a way of working that fits your situation. In exceptional circumstances we may consider home visits.

I offer single session therapy for talking through immediate concerns, anxieties and fears.  I also offer incident support debriefs to organisations and groups (poa).
