About me

My name is Marcela Andrade del Corro, and I am a qualified HCPC registered art therapist working with children, young people and their families. Since I qualifying in 2007, I gained extensive experience in supporting children from birth, and young people up to 18 years old, and beyond when it has been helpful.

Throughout my years of practice, I have noticed that children naturally play or make art to express themselves, or to process what feels important. Therefore, I use art and play as the main form of interaction. In addition, it is fundamental for me to create a safe and trusting relationship with my young clients and families to use the space to make sense of confusing and distressing feelings and experiences.

I offer an initial contact through a short phone or video call free of charge; this is helpful to clarify doubts and any questions you may have about my work and understanding of therapy. This is particularly for families who are new to therapy.  In this first meeting, we will also be thinking about how you wish to use this space.

Childhood is connected to hope and growth; nevertheless, this developmental stage and the adverse situations that life may bring, often require an extra support.  I currently offer face to face sessions, and online consultation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a degree in psychology, a masters degree in art therapy, and a diploma in clinical supervision.  I am currently conducting child and infant observation studies.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I also offer dyadic intervention for parent-child or siblings, this is particularly recommended when families feel that this dyadic relationship should improve.

Throughout my years of experience, I have specialised in early years.
