About me

Well done for being here: it takes courage to engage with therapy,  to at last work on you!  It may be you're finally ready to work through an issue or maybe the Pandemic, or a recent event, has brought to the surface all sorts of psychological issues for you.  These issues may be depression, loss, abandonment, isolation and even despair.  Please don't suffer alone.  I'm here to help, and waiting to listen.  I'm seeing clients face-face in my beautiful therapy room, and also offering online sessions as well as walking/talking therapy.

Life can throw us challenges in all sorts of areas of our lives, and these challenges may occur at any time.  Sometimes we just need that extra independent support to help us work through these challenges and that's where I can help you.  I am a qualified counsellor in TA Practice, with more than 10 years' client experience.  I work face-face, out in the open and online with adults and couples over 18, relationally, in a safe, comfortable, and private space, in which you can express/articulate how you think, feel and behave.  We work together with what's in the room between us.  No judgements.  I will listen and eventually may gently challenge.  I may use Mindfulness to help ground you in the here and now - effective when you're feeling particularly anxious, are prone to over-thinking, or may be worried by factors outside your control.  I may also work creatively using sand tray, cards and drawing where appropriate.

I offer short and long-term counselling.

I can work online with any time zone, anywhere in the world, all you need is either a smartphone, tablet or computer, as well as headphones and a private space.  I work outside as well as online using Zoom which can be accessed from your mobile phone or your tablet or computer.  If you're seeing me face-to-face, I am situated 2 minutes walk from Goring-by-Sea Station platform.  Should you come by car, there is free off street parking available.  My working hours are:

Monday 08:00 - 20:00
Tuesday 08:00 - 20:00
Wednesday 08:00 - 20:00

The first session is charged at £35 (£45 for couples) and will help us to decide whether or not we can work with each other.  Thereafter sessions cost £60 for individual counselling and £80 for couples counselling.  I also offer a limited number of spaces at low cost for students, the unemployed and those receiving benefits.  I will always respond to your enquiry - please make sure you check your Junk/Spam folder.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at the Link Centre and The Connexus Institute and hold a Diploma Certificate in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy Training.  I have a UKATA Diploma in TA Practice and am a Contractual Trainee working towards my CTA exam to qualify as a Psychotherapist.  I am a registered member of the BACP.

I have many years' experience of delivering Client Therapy, some of which have been at St Barnabas Hospice in Goring-by-Sea delivering Loss and Bereavement Counselling.

I have more than 30 years' experience working full time in the Corporate World as a Learning and Development Consultant for blue chip companies and professional services firms.

My own learning is constant, whether through my work, on a course, attending a workshop, or simply living my life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

UKATA
UK Association for Transactional Analysis (UKATA)

UKATA (formally the Institute of Transactional Analysis) is the national UK Transactional Analysis organisation representing all fields of TA theory and practice. TA can be used as an effective tool in a wide range of contexts such as: personal development, management, coaching, counselling, psychotherapy, teaching, education, parenting and more.
