About me

My name is Malgosia. I am a Counselling Psychologist, HCPC and BPS registered, and a Dynamic Interpersonal Therapist. I have extensive experience of working with a wide range of psychological difficulties. I am an integrative practitioner which means that my practice is influenced by more than one approach which in my case is psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, and Cognitive-Analytical Therapy (CAT).

In my work I focus on adapting the best-suited approach to your individual needs. This might entail helping you find coping strategies to address specific symptoms or assisting you to increase understanding of yourself and your relationships with others. I am also using DIT model (Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy) which is a 16 sessions time limited therapy aiming to identify and change unhelpful patterns affecting your important relationships and professional achievements.

The length of therapy would depend on your needs and chosen approach and can vary from six sessions to open ended. It is normally a 50 minute weekly session. I appreciate how difficult it is sometimes to start therapy and make a commitment to change. I would initially offer you an assessment consultation so you could explore your issues with me and see if you would like to work with me. Please contact me for any questions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a member of British Psychological Society (BPS) and Health Care Professional Council (HCPC).

I have MSc in Psychology and MSc in Counselling Psychology as well as a post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology. I trained both in the UK and in Poland and I am working both in English and Polish.

I have over 15 years experience of working as a Psychologist/Psychotherapist in a variety of settings, including psychiatric wards and forensic services. My clients have presented with difficulties such as anxiety and depression, severe trauma, abuse, phobias, personality disorders, psychosis, relationship difficulties, attachment, bereavement and identity issues. For the last nine years I have worked at secondary care psychological service in the NHS and have seen people with long-term, complex mental health problems. I also provide supervision and consultancy to mental health professionals.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
