About me

You may be feeling overwhelmed, lost, stuck or confused and wondering where to turn to for support. I provide a non-judgemental, safe, confidential space where you can take time to explore your thoughts, concerns and difficulties. I will work at your pace to help you make sense of your situation and identify changes that will help you find a way forward.

How I work

I am a psychodynamic counsellor. This means I will listen carefully to your current concerns and, where helpful, reflect with you on previous relationships and experiences that can influence how you think, feel and experience life in the present. This can help you gain a fresh perspective of your situation, a clearer sense of yourself and understand what may help on your journey.

Next step

If you feel this kind of support would be helpful, please contact me by email or telephone. I will respond to you to arrange an initial session where we can talk about what has brought you to therapy, and something of your present situation and personal history. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have. If we both agree we can work together I will offer a 50 minute session at the same time each week.

I am experienced in working with individuals struggling with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, difficulties in relationships, work issues, health issues and bereavement.

I am a fully qualified and experienced psychodynamic therapist. I have a postgraduate diploma in psychodynamic counselling and I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have worked for over 6 years with adult clients in BACP accredited counselling services. I have been a volunteer counsellor for a hospice charity. I am currently employed as an associate counsellor for a Southampton charity and have my own private practice. Prior to training as a counsellor, I supported adults and older adults with a range of physical and mental health issues including individuals managing life limiting illnesses and individuals in a caring role, and supported people who had been bereaved.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
