About me
I am experienced in working with individuals struggling with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, difficulties in relationships, work challenges, negotiating life transitions, health problems, living with a life limiting illness, being in a caring role, the impact of a bereavement.
How I work
As a psychodynamic counsellor my work has a relational focus. I provide a safe, non-judgemental, confidential space within which we can establish a trusting working therapeutic relationship. We will work together to understand what is concerning you and, where helpful, this will include reflecting on previous relationships and experiences and how they might provide helpful insights into your current challenges. These reflections can help you gain a fresh perspective of your situation, a clearer sense of yourself and understand what may help you going forward.
Next step
If you feel this kind of support would be helpful, please contact me by email or telephone. I will answer any immediate questions you may have and arrange an initial consultation to talk further about the challenges you are facing, and how we might work together. If we both agree it would be beneficial to proceed with counselling, I will offer a regular weekly 50 minute session.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified and experienced psychodynamic therapist. I have a postgraduate diploma in psychodynamic counselling and I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have worked for over 6 years with adult clients in BACP accredited counselling services. I have been a volunteer counsellor for a hospice charity. I have also worked as an associate counsellor for a Southampton charity. I have my own private practice. Prior to training as a counsellor, I worked with adults and older adults with a range of physical and mental health issues including those receiving palliative and end of life care, and supported individuals who were primary carers and those struggling with a bereavement.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
