About me

Seeking support through Counselling can be a difficult and brave decision, as you embark on the journey of getting in touch with yourself, who you are, and your world around you. I aim to empower you to discover that you have the answers within yourself to tackle the challenges that life can bring.

I recognise that everyone has their personal story and reason for seeking counselling, and no two people are the same. That is why I tailor our therapy to suit your individual needs, working in a collaborative manner with you that ensures the work we do together is progressive and impactful. I want to hear your story and sit beside you as you evolve through the therapeutic process.

" To live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering "                                                  Friedrich Neitzsche

What to expect:

During our first session we will explore your goals and what you would like to work on, this is also an opportunity for you to ask me any further questions that you may have since our 20 minute free consultation. Each therapy session will last for 50 minutes. Our work together is open-ended, which gives us the opportunity to explore your experiences at a pace and in a way that feels right for you. I provide a safe, non-judgemental and empathic space to allow you to explore all that is going on for you, offering a listening ear with plenty of room for you to share your experiences, thoughts and emotions.
I trained as an Integrative Counsellor which means I integrate various modalities into our work and will tailor this to suit each person I work with.
I work from a Humanistic perspective, practicing predominantly Person-Centred Therapy, drawing on CBT interventions, Psychodynamic and Existential Theories.

Creative Writing:

I have a keen interest in working creatively and if this is something you too are interested in, I can offer guidance and support in using creative writing techniques to help tap further into your therapeutic experience.

Where:

I currently offer Face-to-Face therapy from a lovely therapy room in Feering on Mondays and Wednesdays, I also offer Online and Walk and Talk Therapy (location can be negotiated).
Walk and Talk Therapy offers the opportunity to work with nature and the elements, and is used as a guide as we travel through the therapeutic process. Drawing on the changing and perfectly imperfect natural world can allow you to tap into the changes that you are living through, and what is experienced as part of what it means to be human. Working with nature helps not only connect us to the wider world, it provides us with a deeper connection to ourselves, planting new root systems of what we are yet to discover, allowing space for new buds to grow.

" And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul "
                                                       John Muir

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
