About me

Hi, I'm Lucy, I'm so pleased you're here.
Seeking support through counselling is a brilliant first step, as you embark on the journey of getting in touch with yourself, who you are, and your world around you.
Perhaps you've been feeling lost, maybe you've neglected yourself, lost sight of who you are whilst juggling the needs of others and the demands of modern life? Or you have experienced a big change in your life that has brought everything to the surface. There are a myriad of reasons why people come to counselling, life can be really tough, we are often faced with challenges and are confronted with the unexpected, but you don't have to face this alone. I aim to empower you to discover that you have the answers to tackle the challenges that life can bring.

I recognise that everyone has their personal story and reason for seeking counselling, and no two people are the same. That is why I tailor our therapy to suit your individual needs, working in a collaborative manner with you that ensures the work we do together is progressive and impactful. I want to hear your story and sit beside you as you evolve through the therapeutic process.

What to expect:

I offer an initial session of 90 minutes to give us us plenty of time to explore your goals, what you would like to work on and to give you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have about the counselling process, (there is the option of having a standard 50 minute session when we first meet if this is preferable to you). Every therapy session after this will be 50 minutes.
Our work together is open-ended, which gives us the opportunity to explore your experiences at a pace and in a way that feels right for you. I offer empathy, non-judgement and warmth, and provide a space where there is plenty of room for you to share your experiences, thoughts and emotions.
I am an integrative counsellor which means I can bring in a variety of modalities into our work and will tailor this to suit each person I work with.
I work from a Humanistic perspective, practicing Person-Centred Therapy, drawing on CBT interventions, Psychodynamic, and Existential Theories.

Where:
I offer Online, Walk and Talk (Tuesday - Friday), and In-Person therapy (Tuesday evening), location can be negotiated for Walk and Talk. Please visit my website for further details on frequently visited green spaces.
I work at Evergreen CIC in Earls Colne on Tuesday evenings.

Walk and Talk Therapy offers the opportunity to work with nature and the elements, and is used as a guide as we travel through the therapeutic process. Drawing on the changing natural world can allow you to tap into the changes that you are living through, and what is experienced as part of what it means to be human. Working with nature helps not only connect us to the wider world, it provides us with a deeper connection to ourselves, planting new root systems that we are yet to discover, allowing space for new buds to grow.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
