About me

Hi. I’m Lorna, an integrative and trauma-informed counsellor.

It's so good to meet you.

I'm sorry if life is difficult right now, maybe it has been for a long time. Perhaps you're dealing with adverse circumstances, emotional difficulties, depression or anxiety.

HOW COUNSELLING HELPS:

Through counselling, I offer a safe space and a non-judgemental and compassionate approach where you will feel seen and heard.

We can explore your experiences, emotions, beliefs, thoughts and behaviour patterns. (plus much more).

There are tools available to help you regulate your nervous system, build self-love and move forward.

WHY YOU MIGHT NEED HELP:

Because of unhealed trauma, the accumulation of chronic stress and adverse experiences, we unconsciously detach from ourselves, the world and those around us. We lose the present moment and often end up living in our heads.

Does this sound familiar?

A LITTLE ABOUT MY EXPERIENCES:

After qualifying, I continued working with clients living with long-term emotional and physical health issues including depression, anxiety, loss, chronic pain and the impact of unhealed trauma.

It might be that you want to explore a particular issue, or sometimes a more holistic 'whole person' type approach is appropriate.

I use a variety of modalities depending on the client’s needs. Person-centred Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Theory, Transactional Analysis and Polyvagal Theory (the theory of the nervous system) form a lot of my work.

INSPIRATIONS:

Over the past few years, my further training has been in the realm of trauma, chronic pain and nervous system dysregulation. I am particularly interested in the mind-body connection. Some of my Inspirations are Gabor Mate, Irene Lyon, Peter Levine, Kim D’eramo and Howard Schubiner,

HOPE:

No matter how long you’ve been struggling, healing is possible. I hope you allow me to support you on your journey back to your authentic self.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
