About me

I'm a trained and qualified Integrative Counsellor & Therapist with over 10 years’ experience in the mental health sector. This means I draw on a range of therapeutic strategies, professional and personal experience to support mental health recovery. For more information about my qualifications and experience, scroll down to the ‘Training, Qualifications and Experience’ section below.

What brings you here and how can I help…?

I understand that seeking support can stir up a range of emotions such as fear, anxiety and sometimes even a sense of reluctance as you grapple with the decision to reach out for counselling and begin to work through your pain or confusion. Getting started can be daunting! However, with the development of trust, safety, and warmth, I can support you through your journey.

At times throughout our lives, we can feel disconnected, hopeless and agitated, perhaps even nervous and on edge? This may be as a result of past troubles or present challenges.

In light of this, we can experience feelings of dread, stomach tightness, and spiralling thoughts that are scary and draining? We can spend the day moving from one worry to the next, trying to find solutions or ways to block them out. We can end up feeling numb, confused and empty, with no interest for life?

Whether the challenges you are facing stem from past difficulties which effect you in the present or are present issues troubling you in the here and now, counselling offers a confidential space to explore, make sense of and move on from it grow around such challenges.

I specialise in supporting my clients find relief from their relentless, confusing thoughts and feelings no matter how big or small they may seem. This helps them develop clearer boundaries, improve their relationships and enables them feel more socially connected and confident without fear.

Feeling fine one minute then frightened, low or stressed out the next is exhausting? This changing mood can leave you feeling overwhelmed and like everyone and everything is constantly triggering you?

You may feel like the only one who isn’t ‘normal’ or able to enjoy the simple things in life.

I can help you stop the fear, agitation and confusion in your body and mind, helping you find clarity by slowing down your thoughts, enabling you to feel safe, connected and energised …perhaps for the first time!

I work with clients to unravel the challenges in their lives, bringing relief from the relentless confusion and self-doubt.

Beginning my career in psychology, I have conducted academic research at degree and master’s level in the field of psychology as well as lecturing psychology at the University of Hertfordshire. At present I work as a Trauma and Addiction Recovery Therapist for a Hertfordshire based Community Interest Company. This enables me to draw on a rich and diverse range of experience to support mental health and well-being recovery.

As a result of my extensive training, knowledge and mental health sector experience, I specialise in supporting individuals who are feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed, through working with both the mind and the bodily sensations associated with panic and distress. I have experience in helping people navigate these relentless, difficult thoughts, feelings and emotions. Together, we can develop skills and techniques that will help bring a sense of ease, safety and control, we can then unravel the reasons behind your feelings, enabling you to worry less and enjoy life more and feel safe again.
