About me
Life can be difficult and complex. And that can take its toll on you. You deserve to be heard. You can talk to me.
I’m a counsellor based in beautiful Teignmouth, South Devon. Easily accessible from Dawlish, Newton Abbot and Exeter.
Teign Talk offers a safe space for you to talk when life seems overwhelming.
When life gets difficult, it’s natural to feel “off”
You might have a heaviness or tightness that you can’t shake. You might know something is “not quite right”. You might be feeling stuck.
You don’t want to feel like that anymore.
Now you’re ready for change.
But you don’t want to - or can’t - talk to your friends and family.
Perhaps they wouldn’t understand, or you don’t want to “burden” them.
You want someone to talk to who will:
• listen without judgement
• reassure you
• help you to make sense of your feelings
• support you to find your path forwards
My approach is focused on your needs as an individual. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. I listen to your worries, problems and stories and help you to decide your best course of action. I offer appointments (booked through my website) via zoom or face to face in my therapy room.
Training, qualifications & experience
I work part time as a counsellor for the NHS (at Channel View Surgery Group, Teignmouth). Teign Talk is my private practice for when counselling is unavailable on the NHS.
I worked with the Intercom Trust to provide counselling for LGBTQ+ clients. I am a volunteer counsellor with Andy’s Man Club – I really support their work to encourage men to talk.
When you choose Teign Talk, you can expect a commitment to equality and diversity. I’m all talk and action: I’ve made speeches in both Houses of Parliament and been to 10 Downing Street because of my disability advocacy work
I have an Advanced Professional Diploma in Counselling Theory and Therapeutic Practice. I am an accredited registrant of the National Counselling Society which means I work within their ethical frameworks and am on a register that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. I am fully insured.
I have experience working with:
• anxiety
• depression/ low mood
• panic attacks
• expressing yourself
• grief
• LGBTQ+issues
• management of long-term medical conditions/ disabilities
• relationship problems
• fertility
• addiction
• self esteem

Further information
In the free introductory session I will ask you about yourself and how you are feeling. I will also explain the process and important information about confidentiality etc. This session also gives us both a chance to see if we’re a good personality fit. It’s important that both of us feel comfortable so that you get the best possible outcome from your counselling sessions.
If you attend in person, please note:
My office is not at street level, you have to go down 8 steps. If you have mobility requirements, you may prefer to book a Zoom session. My road is also permit-parking only so please park on my driveway. I am also a dog owner, and whilst Oscar will not be present in the sessions, he does have access to the rooms out of office hours. If you have severe allergies, please book a Zoom session.
