About me
I am a systemic and family psychotherapist offering individual, couple and family therapy. I have worked with children, families, couples and individuals with a wide variety of presenting problems, for over 18 years.
I work with you to provide a safe and supportive space in which to explore the concerns that bring you to therapy and help you to understand and strengthen relationships.
Systemic therapy considers problems within the wider context in which they exist rather than locating the problem in one person. Through exploring and understanding patterns that have emerged; your values and beliefs and your family scripts and narratives, stuck patterns can be interrupted, creating opportunities for change.
Therapy will be at your pace and can be a combination of individual, couple or family sessions depending on your needs and goals for the therapy.
Sometimes people come to therapy because a problem or symptom has emerged, and help is wanted to understand it and find more helpful alternatives. At other times, people come to therapy for a safe space in which to think about and improve their communication and relationship, whether to another person or to themselves.
I work with warmth, curiosity, integrity and respect. I aim to provide enough challenge to promote the change you are seeking whilst helping you to feel supported and safe.

Experience
My 18 years of experience includes working as a social worker in Australia and the UK; working with children and families in CAMHs (NHS) and with children and families in special needs schools, particularly those who have experienced adversity within the education system and/or have been at risk of school exclusion.
Many of these children have had diagnoses such as ADHD and ASD and/or have displayed behaviour which has been found to be challenging by the education system and family.
Other presenting problems I have worked with are: anxiety and stress, school refusal, relationship difficulties, self-harming behaviors, depression, eating related problems and changes to the family structure through family life cycle events.
In addition to these roles, I work privately offering couple, individual and family therapy.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
