About me

Hello, My name is Kirby - BACP Registered Counsellor at Breakfree Counselling. It can be difficult to make the decision to begin therapy but you have taken the first step. I know that making this decision can bring about many feelings and emotions. You might not know what to expect from therapy. You might not feel that therapy is the right route to take, but I am here to help.

Therapy can give you the opportunity to identify your issues and needs and help you to work towards moving forward. If you feel that this is right for you feel free to get in contact for a free no-obligation initial consultation.

My approach is ultimately guided by the needs of the client whereby I am able to work in an accepting and non-judgemental way to help individuals deal with life's challenges in their own way and in ways that can bring about the best outcomes for the individual.

I have a passion for working with people and have a strong belief in the benefit of the therapeutic relationship to bring about change and I see this as a basis for therapy to be effective. I hope for a mutual collaboration between myself and my clients in a confidential and safe place where the individual can be open without the fear of judgement.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Counselling - Foundation Degree
  • Certificate from NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism / 2023

I have experience working mostly with clients suffering from anxiety.

Before studying counselling I worked with clients suffering pregnancy loss which is an area I am particularly interested in.

As well as this I have expanded my knowledge base of ASD. I aim to work authentically to meet the needs of the client no matter what the issue.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
