About me

Whatever brings you to therapy, there is hope.

Whether you're experiencing a new or ongoing problem, past experiences are haunting and holding you back, or life just isn't going as you'd hoped, I can help you navigate your way to feeling better, more hopeful, and whole.

I’m a qualified and registered Integrative Counsellor, trained and experienced in a range of well-researched therapy styles and methods which I can draw from to tailor an approach to meet your individual needs.

My areas of special interest are:

  • ADHD
  • relationship and attachment difficulties
  • anxiety and panic
  • dissociation and delusions
  • low self worth and esteem
  • high sensitivity.

However, I don't limit my work to these areas. I work with clients with a huge range of problems. My greatest interest is creating a safe, supportive, healing space to help clients explore and move through their difficulties.

Working together

To help you determine how we might work together, here are the main reasons clients have chosen to work with me:

1. Therapy tailored to you

I don’t try and fit you to a particular type of therapy: I work collaboratively with you to design an approach that helps you with your particular situation.

I use a client preference tool which I developed combining knowledge of personality and preferences with therapy, to ensure our work together meets your needs.

I work creatively using different methods (beyond talking) to help you discover insight into whatever is troubling you and find a way forward.

2. Appreciating your uniqueness

In our work together you will know that I believe in you and that you can be your real self, without judgement, pressure, or expectation. I am committed to understanding your unique perspective in order to connect and support you. I take great care to build a trusting relationship where you feel confident I'll guide you safely through your therapy journey.

3. Compassionate and supportive

I’m warm, supportive, compassionate, and positive. You will feel heard, seen, and valued.

I’m insightful and can recognise and highlight patterns to you that might not be evident when you’re in the thick of your situation.

I can give you a nudge and supportive challenge where you would find it helpful to build awareness or confront blind spots or blocks - always from the secure base of a trusting, caring relationship. I will always work with you to ascertain where you want the balance between support and challenge.

What next

I work with adults individually over Zoom. You might choose a certain number of sessions or to meet on an ongoing basis for as long as it benefits you. You are not committed to a certain number of sessions and can stop therapy at any time. I offer a free, confidential initial meeting to talk about how we might be able to work together.

Availability

I am not taking on new clients at the moment. Please get in touch if you'd like to be contacted when I have availability.

Experience

My breadth of experience in private practice and mental health charity counselling (Mind) and crisis support (Samaritans and Shout) means I'm not afraid or shocked by the huge range of issues clients bring to therapy or the intensity of the emotions associated.

I'm trauma-informed and alert and sensitive to trauma reactions and trauma and the body.

I've worked with clients with a huge range of issues including anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, relationship difficulties (including betrayal, gaslighting, coercive control, and partners with addictions), grief and loss (including anticipatory and living grief and pregnancy and baby loss), emotional overwhelm and dysregulation, sexual and intimacy challenges, sleep difficulties, childhood trauma, sensory sensitivity, poor self image and low self self esteem, compulsions, psychosis (including delusions, hallucinations, and dissociation), destructive patterns, personality disorder, identity issues (including gender, family, and cultural identity), self harm, and suicidal feelings.

I have a corporate background in executive coaching and talent and leadership development. I can work purely from a counselling perspective or, as a qualified and experienced executive coach, I have additional flexibility to bring proactive and goal focus if a client would would find this beneficial.

I've lived, worked and studied in the UK, USA and Australia.

Accredited registration

I'm registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
