About me

Are you going through a difficult time or struggling with a tough situation? Are you having panic attacks and not sure how to manage them or struggling with generalised anxiety or social anxiety or just feeling sad and something's not quite right? I offer you a judgement -free environment to help you explore and overcome your problems.

I work as a person-centred/humanistic counsellor and use aspects of psychological approaches such as CBT(cognitive behavioural therapy). I am aware we are all different and that one approach does not suit all, so I will adapt my approach to you, my client!

Personally, I found counselling enabled me to overcome obstacles in my life and believe in myself again. When you are able to talk in a trusting environment, without criticism or judgement, that's when I believe change can occur and it is a great honour for me to be a part of this process.

I have a vast number of years' experience supporting families and individuals through their darkest times and am passionate about helping people gain a strong sense of their own identity. This can help to build confidence and self-esteem which then in turn increases your satisfaction in life.

I support both adults and young people with issues such as:  anxiety, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, bereavement, self-harm, difficulty with relationships, family issues, and many other problems that impact on our daily lives. Or simply feeling that you would like to take time to reflect on your life, to understand yourself better and make some changes?

I also am a tutor teaching level 2 and Level 3 counselling and hold a level 3 award in education and teaching.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor and I have over 20 years experience of working with families, children and young people from a variety of backgrounds and this has provided me with extensive knowledge and experience especially in areas of self-harm, Autism and family therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
