About me

Hello and a warm welcome to my profile!

Have things become too much for you just recently? Are you struggling to cope? Do you find yourself trapped in a loop of negative thinking? Maybe anxiety has become difficult to manage or you feel like you are crashing into a depression?

You’ll be pleased to know that it will pass. The way we engage with the world and our patterns of relating to one another can be changed which can make us happier and calmer. With my help, you might find you can start to move into a new phase of your life.

It has been proven that the relationship between the therapist and the client can greatly improve the awareness of the client's relationship with others outside of the therapy space. With the right support, you will be able to take that vital step back,  a bit like taking a breath of clean air after you`ve been breathing smog. Sometimes this is a simpler process than you may think, or sometimes it may take a little longer to get on the right path. The work we can do together could change your life.

Things can get better, and you have made the first step by thinking of counselling and I commend you for that.

I offer Therapeutic counselling for all kinds of people.  Some of the issues that I work with are stress, anxiety, depression, isolation (including carers at home who are experiencing isolation due to their role) loss and grief, (this not only applies to bereavement of a loved family member or friend but also of pets, a job loss, or indeed loss of any kind ), relationship problems, moving house,  work issues and many more life problems that interrupt our ability to live a free and happy life.

I have worked extensively with the Mother and Daughter relationship and the problems that can arise, these can have such a negative impact on two lives, and sometimes can sadly repeat down the generations. It dosen`t have to be this way, the key to unlocking what can be seen as a deadlock in some situations is based on honesty, being heard and understood - wonderful building blocks for going forwards!   I also offer this form of therapy as a  Mother/Daughter family therapy session.

What I believe whole heartedly is, that when a person is given a safe confidential space and feels truly heard, change can begin.

How I work

I am a member of the BACP and adhere to their code of ethics and standards, therefore I have regular supervision in order to keep my clients safe.

I work face to face, on the phone, or online via WhatsApp or Zoom, or am happy to do home visits if it is difficult to come to my therapy room. I can also offer Walk and Talk support. My aim is to provide a safe and confidential space for my clients to be able to express themselves without judgement.

My therapy room is private, quiet, warm and comfortable , with arm chairs and a sofa to relax on. The room over looks trees and a drive at the front and woodland at the side.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an advanced Diploma in Humanistic integrated Counselling and am a member of the BACP.

I previously worked as a Registered General Nurse.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
