About me

Hi, I'm Joshua, a professional counsellor and registered British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) member.

I know how daunting it can be to look for a counsellor or finding who will match your needs and expectations. So I will talk you through how I work and what I can offer you, hopefully removing any confusion and making your search a little easier.

My approach is relational and integrative, meaning that the relationship we develop is vital to your growth and change in therapy. The integrative part is the modalities I use, which combine CBT, Psychodynamic, compassion, and Trauma-focused. I work differently with children and young people. I use creative tools and mediums, such as play therapy-based interventions with a less formal approach. This working style allows me to tailor counselling to suit your needs, recognising that we are all unique individuals.

By providing a safe and confidential space free from judgement to explore your difficulties, we can work together to meet your aims and goals in counselling, such as managing anxiety, dealing with depression, relationship issues, work, stress or trauma.

If you have any questions, I will be more than happy to help you.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BSc Therapeutic Counselling
  • Rewind Certified
  • Dip Counselling Children & Young People
  • DipHE Therapeutic Counselling
  • Dip Relationship Psychology
  • CertHE Interpersonal and Counselling Skills
  • CertHE Counselling Skills
  • Cert Working with Grief
  • Enhanced DBS, fully insured.

I have several years of experience working with bereaved clients in a charity organisation with complex grief, attachment, and trauma. This is a complex topic for some of us to discuss, and the complexities of grief can be lonely and overwhelming for the person experiencing bereavement or loss.

I have regular training and supervision to keep me in line with the ethical framework of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and to continue my development as a practitioner. I also provide counselling within the NHS dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, and many more issues we struggle to cope with.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
