About me

Being human can be tricky.

We can all get stuck. Addiction is just one way. We can get stuck in our heads and our feelings, in relationships, work, obsessions and compulsions, stuck in unhelpful behaviours and unhelpful ways of seeing things. But, we can all get unstuck.

I believe that everything you need to stay unstuck, is in you. It always has been. It's just a matter of understanding how the situations we face in life can leave us feeling, then exploring different responses to those feelings.

This is therapy and this is counselling.

But it's more than that. The Bulb Booth is a therapeutic programme of wellbeing, which we can explore together in one to one therapy sessions on-video, on-phone, out-side, and you can access anytime here on-line.

Training, qualifications & experience

MBACP. Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Integrative Counselling Dip.

My specialised practice in the field of addiction and recovery, was centred in community and residential treatment settings [Tiers 3 and 4], exploring the choice of fully abstinent recovery and the possibility of managing potentially addictive behaviours. These experiences were key to then working with the horseracing industry, in teaching, with university students, homeless communities, and in private practice.

I embrace a range of therapeutic approaches and would be seen as an integrative therapist and counsellor, integrating multiple therapeutic models and approaches. So, we have many ways to make better sense of life situations: 12-Step Recovery Programme, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Humanistic, Person Centred and Psychodynamic approaches; Integrative Counselling.

We can connect on-video, on-phone and out-side in County Down.

Together, we develop a tailored approach to therapy and counselling; collaboratively, flexibly and with our focus on solutions that can bring about better outcomes for ourselves and those around us.

And I’ve found that our wellbeing can thrive far beyond therapy and counselling, with ongoing supportive structures to guide and inspire us. So, included in the therapy, I also have an on-line programme of wellbeing that you can refer to and return to anytime. It’s called ‘The Bulb Booth’.

At times when session availability can be limited, ‘The Bulb Booth’ offers self-learning practice with insights into a range of proven life approaches from therapeutic, spiritual, and science-based origins. With an additional and growing library of blogs and guiding movies, every element inside The Booth takes just a minute to absorb.

Simply get in touch. We can then start looking at how we can best work together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
