About me

I am an experienced therapist, working for over 15years in private practice offering counselling and psychotherapy to adults.

I offer a free initial consultation which allows me to understand what you may want from therapy, for you to learn more about me and how I work and for us to then decide if I might be the right therapist to work with you.

Life brings challenges to us all at times and often the support of our friends and family is not enough to help us move through these life events. You may be feeling anxious, suffering panic attacks, depression or it could be that issues from your childhood or relationship difficulties impact on your day to day life. At these times working with a professional counsellor can enable us to explore and make meaning of our experiences, noticing patterns of behaviour, thoughts and feelings that are limiting our lives or causing distress. With this understanding real change can be made enabling you to live a full and vibrant life.

It is well evidenced that the therapeutic relationship, between client and therapist is at the heart of successful therapeutic change. I work in a manner that is respectful, confidential, supportive and gently challenging. My training and experience allows me to work in an integrative manner, using a range of theoretical frameworks in a thoughtful and considered approach for each individual client.

I offer short term counselling and longer term Psychotherapy therapy for individuals.

My career spans over 30 years working in the NHS, local authority and the voluntary sector working with vulnerable adults, children, young people and families who face challenges in their lives, both as a senior manager and practitioner.

I am a Registered member of BACP, UKATA and the ITAA and abide by their ethical guidelines and complaints process.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
