About me

Hello and welcome. Deciding to see a therapist is an important and courageous decision.

Contact me for further details or take a look at my website at www.bluecactuscounselling.com

I offer therapy face to face, via Zoom or by telephone.

If you are at a difficult or emotional stage in your life it can help to talk to someone. Everyone suffers emotional difficulties at some time in their life and this can make us feel overwhelmed, desperate and scared. It is often difficult to share these worries with family and friends, not wanting to burden or worry them, maybe needing space to get a sense of your own feelings and needs. Person-centred counselling works from the belief that everyone has at their core the capacity to grow, improve and change to be the best they can be, despite their situation.

Life can sometimes feel difficult

We are all living in a fast paced world, maybe working long hours or struggling with the commitments of work, family and social networking, which put increasing demands on us. The pressure of attaining the right work/life balance can sometimes feel overwhelming especially during times of increased stress due to life events.

You may need time to reconnect

The stress of everyday life may have caused you to become anxious or have low mood after family or work difficulties or a bereavement. You may be feeling lost within yourself and the world or struggling with your identity and not know how to move forward.

You are not alone

I can provide the time and the space for you to focus on the experiences and relationships that have had an impact on your life. You may want to focus on issues that are currently worrying you and/or look into past events, in order to move towards a place which is calmer, with reduced stress and a clearer mind.

I believe in equal opportunities and embrace diversity.

I offer one to one counselling to adults and young people (18+ years).

My therapy room is located in Marchwood, Southampton and I also offer online sessions via Zoom or telephone.

I offer daytime and evening sessions Monday to Thursday.

I offer a free no obligation 15 minute telephone consultation which will give you a chance to talk about your needs and for you to get a feel for the therapy and how I work. You will also be able to ask any questions you have.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
