About me

Hi, my name is Jane Allen, and I would like to take the time to introduce myself to you. I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor living in Maidstone, Kent.

I want to ensure my clients feel safe and cared for throughout our journey together. As an experienced counsellor, I work closely with my clients and design tailor-made sessions based on their needs.

My approach aims to allow my clients to explore any issues they may have in a comfortable and secure space. Whether you're looking for long or short-term support, I'm here for you with flexible options including online, telephone and limited face to face sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

Previous Work

As part of the 'Young Healthy Minds' project, I have been privileged to work with some incredible young people who have faced immense challenges. It has been heartening to help them realise their inner potential and strength, transforming what can be seen as negative situations into more positive ones.

My role as an affiliate counsellor for Rubicon Cares was an incredibly rewarding experience. I was honoured to be part of a charity that supports those who have gone through traumatic experiences and give me the opportunity to provide the counselling and care they needed.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Adoption Counselling

My specialism is in adoption counselling and working as an affiliate counsellor for Barnardo's LNK has been a rewarding experience. I have had the opportunity to provide comfort and support to those who:

  • Have been adopted
  • Are the birth relative of someone who has been adopted
  • The adopted relative
  • If you are thinking about adoption
  • Are part of a special Guardianship arrangement
  • If you are part of a stepfamily too as there are many similarities to adoption.

As well as adoption counselling, I also specialise in many other areas. I offer a free initial call if you feel like we could work together. This is so I can tell you a little about myself and my background and you get a feel for whether I'm the right person to help you.
