About me

For me, the most important part of therapy, and the most influential factor in the success of our work together, is the quality of the working relationship that we build together. This helps create trust between us, and this trusting working relationship leads to openness and honesty. These are the foundations for our work together, and will enable us to explore your current situation thoroughly.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am trained in Integrative counselling, which enables me to use different methods, from different types of therapy, to help you make progress once again in your life.  I believe we are all unique, and so the therapeutic approach I adopt will be specifically for you, depending on your circumstances.

I have the privilege of having travelled all over the world and have also worked in various roles and environments throughout my working life, some of them quite challenging...but very interesting.  I have a great deal of lived experience, as well as theoretical knowledge, and I believe this makes me a more rounded person, who isn't easily shocked and is easy going and tolerant.

Whether it be addiction, bereavement, depression, anger or relationship problems, I've had my fair share, and I'm still standing!  If I've got through problems like these (and many more!), I'm confident I can help you get through yours.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I believe we are all unique individuals, experiencing our own special journey through this life.  At times we can be enjoying the journey but, just as the seasons change, so does life, and sometimes we find ourselves struggling.  It's a fact of life that we will all experience problems at some point in our journey...there are no exceptions!  If you're struggling right now, regardless of the issue, and feel you need someone to accompany you on this stage of your journey, then I encourage you to email me or call me.  We can have an informal chat about what's going on for you at the moment and see if there's some way I might be able to assist you.

It might turn out that I'm not the right therapist/coach for you, and I think it's essential that you find the right person to work with...you're paying good money for therapy and deserve the right support.

However, you might find I'm exactly the type of therapist you're looking for.  If that's the case, then we can begin our work together and I'll help you to navigate this challenging leg of your journey.  Remember, you're not alone!

I understand that it can feel difficult deciding if counselling or coaching is right for you at this moment in time. To help you make the best decision, I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation call, for you to discuss your needs, and ask any questions that you might have, before deciding whether to book our first session together.

If we do go on to work together, our first session will give you the chance to open up more, and we can begin to build up that trusting working relationship I referred to earlier.  Whoever you choose to work with, I wish you all the best on this journey we call 'Life'!
