About me

In life’s ever-changing phases, therapy can provide a sanctuary to navigate and understand the impact of your experiences, emotions, and thoughts. Seeking a therapist is often the first step towards finding the support that you need.

I strive to create a warm and compassionate space for us to explore how you relate to yourself, others, and the world. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, bereavement, abuse, trauma, and other life challenges, including feelings of shame or self-blame, I draw on Compassion-focussed therapy (CFT) to encourage you to foster self-compassion and empathy.

My therapeutic philosophy combines the understanding that our perceptions and responses to distressing events can shape our coping mechanisms. This is where I employ Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which works to identify unhelpful thoughts that can impact the way you feel and behave.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a key part to therapy, and is the foundation of all my work, strengthened through curiosity, engagement, and presence to establish and understand the difficulties that you may be facing. My approach is informed through relational psychodynamic therapy which explores how your childhood impacts your present behaviours and thoughts and how that can materialise in relationships.

As a Muslim, I embrace diversity and welcome individuals of all religious and non-religious backgrounds. I am dedicated to challenging oppression and recognising the significance of cultural, racial, religious, and socio-economic identities in shaping your worldview. Together, we can work to see what might be impacting you in your life and seek ways to overcome adversities in a way that fits your needs.

Stemming from my own difficulties and personal experiences of therapy, I recognise the value and healing benefits of psychotherapy which led me to pursue training as a counselling psychologist to offer inclusive support. With experience in NHS and charity mental health services, I’ve worked with individuals and groups who faced various life challenges.

I currently offer online therapy both long-term and short-term where I offer a space that invites you to explore your world using evidence-based approaches to make sense of your experiences. I am committed to remaining curious and uncovering underlying issues, aiming to facilitate personal growth and resilience as I believe that every person has their own unique strengths to draw upon.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
