About me

Understanding that we are all unique, with our own strengths, qualities and interests, as well as challenges, is hugely important for our well-being. We also know that through having a balanced view of ourselves, we can feel better equipped to cope with difficult emotional and psychological experiences and make positive connections with others.

You may come to therapy with a specific problem or perhaps simply because life in general is getting you down. In our sessions, we will have the chance to explore whatever is troubling you in a calm, safe space.

I am an experienced, integrative counsellor, working with children, young people and adults on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period.

Training, qualifications & experience

Professional Qualifications

Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
Place2Be Certificate in Counselling Children and Young People
BA Hons in European Studies
TEFL
IELTS Examiner
Royal Central School of Speech and Drama graduate

I hold a current Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) certificate.

I originally trained as an actress and have worked in theatre, film and television for many years. I have also worked as a chef, a teacher and as a welfare advisor in a busy London university. My lifelong fascination with people and what makes them tick, and my considerable experience of working in diverse areas of employment with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, informs and enhances my work as a therapist.

I am currently working as a counsellor at a central London university and have worked with primary school children with Place2Be for two and a half years. I also worked as a counsellor at the University of Roehampton for a year, where students presented with such issues as anxiety, depression, self-harm and eating disorders.

It is vital for me to continue learning and expanding my knowledge in order to improve and enhance my practice, so I continue to attend courses and workshops on, for example, bereavement, eating disorders, suicide and children with trauma, as part of my continuing professional development.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their code of ethics.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Working with Adults and Young People

In my work as an integrative therapist, I draw on aspects of psychodynamic and person-centred approaches to help me to find the most fruitful way of working with you. This enables us to explore together difficult, often challenging, emotional and psychological issues in order for you to make changes in your life and move towards a renewed sense of self-esteem and wellbeing. Revisiting early relationships and experiences are, I believe, part of the process of understanding the difficulties we may currently be experiencing in our lives. I will work in a collaborative way with you to identify patterns of behaviour which are preventing you from realising your true potential and living a fulfilled life .

Working with Children

In my work with children, through metaphor and play therapy, my aim is to enable children to understand and more effectively manage their emotions and behaviour, to feel free to be more curious, and to find their voice and tell their story. In achieving these aims, I can assist in building a child's emotional resilience and promote their general well-being, at home, in school and in the wider community.
Creativity helps young children develop their self-awareness and their understanding of others and the world around them. Play is the language of a child and crucial to their development. My background as an actress enables me to be playful and creative with a child, to enter the child's world, whilst maintaining my role as observer and counsellor.
