About me

Hello, I’m Grainne (‘Gronya’), I work with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression and relational trauma. I have counselled for an NHS service and Kingston Women’s Centre and have a special interest in supporting and empowering women.

We all struggle at times and trying to cope with distress can be isolating and exhausting. Right now you may be feeling confused, hopeless or stuck, but you don’t need to manage alone. Choosing to begin therapy is an important step in helping yourself, and I am here to support you to feel more balanced as we consider what’s troubling you.

You might be experiencing the ongoing effects of past or recent trauma or facing a challenging time of change. You might be trying to cope with relationship issues, work stress or low self-esteem. Or a combination of things can be causing you to worry, feel anxious, angry or low.  Whatever your issues, my aim is to work with you to process the impact of your past experiences, explore where you are right now, and discover what you may need to move forwards and feel better.

My focus is on offering a warm, reliable and caring professional relationship where you can feel safe and free to express yourself in a way you may not feel able to elsewhere. I will listen, I won't judge you and we’ll work at your pace.

Whilst I won’t give you advice, we can talk things through to help you find clarity and consider your potential resources and choices. As you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, you can experience both an increased sense of acceptance, and the ability to make the changes you want and need to flourish.

I offer long term and shorter term (6-12 weeks) therapy in person or on Zoom. If you’d like to find out more about how working with me could help, don't hesitate to get in touch to book an enquiry call or first session.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
