About me

I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to fully understand and explore the experiences that they have had. These often cause the feelings of being tangled up like a ball of string, or of having the dark cloud with them, or feelings of  having missing jigsaw pieces. All feelings that stop us from being able to be ourselves and not only to cope but to enjoy life.

Throughout my journey I’ve worked with a diverse range of people, who have felt that for whatever reason they have been unable to cope with the stresses and pressures of the modern world. Some people need  support exploring traumas resulting from past or present issues, and some feel the need for assistance in managing long term conditions that cause them emotional distress. Others need support in coping with anxieties and depression resulting from differing situations like bereavement and divorce to relationships and work-related issues.

Whatever is getting in the way therapy can help you discover the calm amongst the chaos.

My calm accepting manner enables people to build a healthy secure relationship where any concern can be fully explored. I employ a range of techniques and strategies gained from my training and experiences to tailor sessions to your needs. My person centred approach enables me to actively listen to you, and as an empath, helps me to gain understanding into your experiences while ensuring that you feel secure in your exploration. My CBT training enables me to help you to identify patterns in your behaviour and to alter these should you wish to do so. Whatever way we work you will choose it. It is simply a privilege for me to be a part of your journey at this difficult time.

I work remotely over the phone or online using Zoom or Teams. This enables you to have flexibility in accessing therapy, allowing you to be in a comfortable space while you explore your issues. Sessions are agreed between us and can be altered to suit your needs.

Initially we would have a free phone session lasting twenty to thirty minutes to see how I may support you and if you want me to be a part of your journey.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Qualified Person Centred Counsellor, holding a B.A. in Counselling (hons).
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision, qualified to offer Counselling Supervision to other professionals.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

I have worked for twelve years as a therapist, initially with MIND providing therapy to a diverse range of clients, and providing clinical supervision to other therapists. Currently I work for an IAPT service providing support to clients with a complex range of issues, covering all aspects of anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation and trauma including complex trauma. I also work with some clients who have complex diagnoses.

Alongside this I have a private practice to enable people to access therapy, supporting  them in being able to cope with their chaos, helping them to find their calm and strength.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
