About me

Hello and a warm welcome, my name is Gabi. I am a qualified BACP registered counselling psychotherapist of 10 years.

I offer a safe confidential space for you to talk through issues weighing on you. You might be going through difficulties and not know where to begin or what to expect. I hope I can address some of your initial questions here.

Firstly my aim as your counsellor is to listen to you

Counselling, talking therapy, can be a helpful way to navigate issues, big or small. As your counsellor I am here to listen to you. I provide a calm, safe space in which to help you make sense of those issues. With counselling you are not alone.

I work collaboratively with you and at your pace to help make sense of issues and bring about positive change. I will support you to safely explore past trauma and associated feelings.

I work in areas including, but not exclusively, anxiety, depression, grief, bereavement, trauma, self-harm, low self esteem, suicidal ideation, parenting, life transitions, neurodiversity and issues relating to sense of self and identity.

Training, qualifications & experience

My core training was in Integrative Therapy in which I hold a Diploma. Integrative Therapy is an effective approach to counselling that involves drawing together techniques from other therapeutic models tailoring therapy to your needs.

I also hold a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, more widely known as CBT.  It means I can offer effective therapeutic counselling both short- and long term as you need, whilst arming you with strategies and skills going forward.

My 10 years of experience comes from working 1-2-1 in agencies and charities counselling young people and adults, both long and short-term therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
