About me

Hi and welcome, I'm Gabi,

I am an experienced BACP registered adolescent and adult counselling psychotherapist.

I see clients from 16 years up, both face to face, and online.

The times and the world we are living in can seem daunting. A lot of the clients I see at the moment come to me because they have been trying to manage anxiety bought on by Covid and the knock-on effects of dramatic changes in our way of living; eg: isolation, working at home, relationships at work and home, a knock on to school anxiety, communications and relationships. Left unacknowledged can but not always lead to a depressive state.

A first session, sessions, is all about listening to you, hearing what has bought you to counselling what your wishes and goals are.  I offer both short- and long-term counselling helping you to address problematic issues shaping your present. I Integrate therapeutic techniques to create a flexible tailored approach to your counselling which can often include aspects of CBT

I see counselling with my clients as an active collaboration working together.

I offer a relaxed confidential space in which you safely explore concerns and presenting problems. My belief is counselling is human to human relationship where we explore difficult feelings and emotions safely and which often includes humour and laughter.

As your counsellor I'm here to listen to you and to support you.

I work collaboratively with you and at your pace to help you make sense of issues and bring about positive change. I will support you to safely explore past trauma and associated feelings.

I work in areas including, but not exclusively, anxiety, depression, grief, pre-grief  bereavement, illness, cancer, trauma, self-harm, low self-esteem, suicidal ideation, life transitions, being a parent and having a parent, neurodiversity, sex and issues relating to sense of self and identity.

Training, qualifications & experience

My core training was in Integrative Therapy in which I hold a Diploma. Integrative Therapy is an effective approach to counselling that involves drawing together techniques from other therapeutic models tailoring therapy to your needs.

I also hold a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, more widely known as CBT.  It means I can offer effective therapeutic counselling both short- and long term as you need, whilst arming you with strategies and skills going forward.

I am a Barnardo’s Certified  Adoption Support Counsellor

My 10 years of experience comes from working 1-2-1 in agencies and charities counselling young people and adults, both long and short-term therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
