About me

Welcome to Edelweiss Therapy, where you will find a warm and compassionate approach to counselling. As a fully qualified (BACP) Therapeutic Counsellor, I understand the challenges that life can bring and the importance of having a safe space to explore and heal.

With an integrative, humanistic approach focused on person-centred therapy, I am dedicated to supporting you on your journey towards contentment and peace. Drawing on my experience working with dementia patients including through the Alzheimer's Society and volunteering for Macmillan, I am committed to helping clients navigate difficult times and find greater fulfilment.

Together, we will embark on a therapeutic journey filled with empathy, non-judgment, and confidentiality, tailored to your needs and preferences. I am here to help you courageously embrace the process of growth and self-discovery, as Carl Rogers beautifully articulated, "It involves the stretching and growing of becoming more and more of one's potentialities. It involves the courage to be."

I work with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, work, stress, family history, trauma, self-esteem, negative thought patterns, feeling stuck, shame, unhelpful behaviours and self-beliefs, grief and loss.

You will be warmly welcomed.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and adhere to their ethical framework and guidelines (www.bacp.co.uk). Continued professional development in creative techniques including sand tray therapy.

I have been providing therapy for 18 months across a range of areas including relationships, perfectionism, anxiety and depression, trauma, abuse, narcissistic behaviour and addiction.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

How Edelweiss came to be

When it came to naming my therapy practice, I wanted a name that would be meaningful and evoke a sense of comfort and healing. That's why I called my business Edelweiss Therapy.

The name Edelweiss holds a special place in my heart because of its rich symbolism. The Edelweiss flower is highly valued for its beauty and rarity. It grows in harsh alpine conditions, on rocky terrains where few other plants survive. This resilience and ability to bloom in adversity resonated with me on a personal level.

Just like the Edelweiss flower, therapy is about resilience and growth. It's about helping individuals navigate through life's challenges and develop the skills they need to thrive. The name Edelweiss Therapy reflects the therapeutic approach that I take with my clients. It's about creating a safe and nurturing environment where they can explore their emotions, gain insight, and find healing.

At Edelweiss Therapy, the goal is to provide a space where clients feel supported and understood. It's about helping them tap into their inner strength and resilience. Just as the Edelweiss flower adapts and flourishes in difficult conditions, therapy aims to help individuals find their own inner resources and thrive, no matter the circumstances.
I promise to offer you a safe space to explore your life, including your hopes and dreams for the future, to get greater peace and contentment.  I will walk alongside you, person to person, empathically and without judgment.
