About me

I am a qualified Relationship Therapist and a Master Practitioner for Eating Disorders and Obesity.

Life can be hard at times and in those times it can be difficult to make positive decisions that help us to move forward individually, as a couple or within the family system.  Sometimes we may hit a crisis point or just get fed up with the same ways of thinking, feeling or behaving and feel that we are unable to move forward on our own.  Being able to understand and manage ourselves helps us cope better with events and other relationships in our lives.

Working with a counsellor and sharing these difficulties can give you the opportunity to discuss and explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours and find ways to change and grow.

I provide a safe, supportive and confidential space and work with warmth, respect and compassion.

Training, qualifications & experience

I first qualified as a counsellor in 2008 after a long career as an HR Director in the IT Industry.  After achieving an Advanced Diploma in couples counselling I worked for Relate in West Surrey.  During my employment I continued to study and developed my skills to Masters level in order to work with Young People, Individuals and Families.  I also attained teaching qualifications to work as a trainer and workshop facilitator in Counselling Skills.  During this time I set up my private practice in Windlesham allowing more flexibility in services that I can offer.  During the pandemic I trained to work online so I am also a member of the Association for Counsellors and Therapists Online (ACTO) which enables me to deliver services remotely.  After training with the National Centre for Eating Disorders I have now become a Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders and Obesity.  The focus through all my work is relationships; relationships with others and ourselves.

As a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), working ethically is important to me. I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework and my work is regularly supervised. I keep up to date with developments in the therapeutic field and attend courses and other professional development activities supporting my work with adults and young people. My work is fully insured and I comply with current data protection legislation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Counselling is not about me telling you what to do but about us exploring together what works best for you.  Everyone, and every relationship, is unique and I believe that we are responsible for our own well-being and can chose to change how we think about ourselves and others and how we behave as a result of that.  Therapy can be challenging but also very rewarding and empowering leading to lasting change and growth.
