About me

Struggling? I know it can be really difficult at times, so I‘m here to help.

I am a qualified and experienced Integrative psychotherapist. I have worked therapeutically in the public sector (NHS and education), in the private sector and within my own private practice for over 25 years. I've worked with adolescents in CAMHS, with individual adults within EAP services, with parents with small children with behavioural issues and corporately and across all walks of life. I work with individuals and in group settings and especially enjoy working with adolescents and couples.

For many of the clients I’ve worked with, I’ve seen issues arise from unresolved childhood concerns including attachment or connection challenges, leading to relationship difficulties either with themselves or with others in their adult life. This can impact client’s self-esteem or self-confidence and leave client’s feeling a sense of inequality or discrimination. Other more present issues such as bereavement or trauma have also been worked through in my practice.

How I practice
I have an interest in working with parents with young children with challenging behaviour (aged 3-7yrs) more commonly identified as ASD or ASD traits. Kicking, screaming, biting, self-harming, lining up toys, tantrums, communication difficulties etc. can all be addressed with help and support.

Having spent much time working with clients from diverse heritage groups, who wish to explore the question; “Who am I?”, I welcome the opportunity to work with such clients, and helping them discover themselves so they find peace with who they actually are. Clients have found therapy to be a great journey of discovery.

I have extensive experience of working with members of any senior leadership team (SLT), in helping them address issues that impact their work-life balance, with clear help, support and exploration. I also offer Reverse Mentoring for members of managers or any SLT. Please contact me for further details.

I have a special interest in working with people who have suffered trauma or distress as a result of difficult childhood experiences – particularly childhood emotional abuse and neglect.

All work now takes place from my online private practice or on the telephone, as I understand that meeting face to face, traveling, health boundaries and limitations can bring up their own set of challenges, especially during a time of financial difficulty for many.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
