About us
We are a registered charity that has been providing counselling services since 1978. We offer anyone over 18, of any lifestyle, nationality or background, a confidential, professional and caring environment in which to discuss their feelings and explore their needs.
We have a pool of qualified (BACP, UKCP, NCPS or similar), skilled counsellors, who offer low cost services and an opportunity to be listened to. This might be help with stress, anxiety, bereavement, abuse, work or life challenges, relationship problems, loneliness, lack of confidence, depression and phobias, as well as many other issues.

Training, qualifications & experience
All of our counsellors undertake a strict screening process before they are able to join as members of Evolve. This ensures the highest standards of care and professionalism from all of our counsellors, and well as a wide range of experience of client issues.
Evolve counsellors are required to work to BACP/UKCP codes of ethics and standards of practice and Evolve’s Code of Practice and are either accredited/registered members of BACP/UKCP/NCS or equivalent, or are working towards such accreditation/registration. All Evolve Counsellors work for Evolve subject to regular satisfactory enhanced CRB/DBS checks. All Evolve counsellors are required to be in regular supervision and undertake continuing professional development.
If you are a practising counsellor who would like to join Evolve as a member, you will benefit from the opportunity to engage and share best practice with other qualified professionals, receive client referrals for a wide range of issues, access to a clearly defined code of practice and professional support services, and subsidised CPD and training workshops. school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information
The Counselling Process:
- Contact us yourself and leave your details with reception.
- A reception counsellor will then provide information about the service and arrange an initial assessment with an experienced counsellor. This lasts approximately 90 minutes and will explore your needs and expectations and assess whether counselling will be the best way forward for you. On occasions, we may refer you to other agencies or provide possible alternatives but the most appropriate approach for you will be discussed with you to ensure the right solution is found.
- In most situations, further counselling sessions will be provided by the same counsellor on a one to one, face to face basis, at regular intervals for a period, which will be either time-limited or open-ended.
