About me

I work with clients from the age of 8+ years as life is just so hectic, and young people need more support. Life can get on top of us; we're just not getting the enjoyment we used to get; perhaps we are struggling to cope and need to get back on track.

I can support you and teach you tools that will put you back on track and keep you there so you can maintain your mental well-being.

Often, people go to therapy and feel good. However, once they leave, they return to feeling bad again. My job as your therapist is to look at what works for you and teach you how to maintain good mental health for life.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a therapist, I work with adults, young people and children, 8+. Please read below to understand how I can work with you as an adult or with your child.

If you are a parent in search of support for your child and have come across my profile, I want you to take a moment for yourself just now and breathe. I appreciate that there are so many profiles on here that it must feel impossible to make the right decision. Feeling like you are making the best decision for your child will empower you to continue to support them through this process, so if during our conversation, either of us feels that I am not quite the right fit, I will help you figure out what you need and point you in the right direction. From this point forward, you do not need to do this alone.

As a therapist, I work with people from all walks of life, all ages and all backgrounds. I am particularly passionate about working with children and have made this the focus of my career. That being said, children exist in an adult world, which they will eventually enter, and it is our responsibility to prepare and support them on this journey. You are here because you want what is best for your child, and I am here because this is my small part in helping children to have the best start in life. The work I will do will be an extension of your aims and goals as a parent, which is part of the conversation we will have.

There are no such things as bad children. Children are doing their best. Your child may be struggling, misunderstood, coping as best they can with what they have and ultimately trying their best but struggling to get it right. As a parent myself, I understand that you may sometimes feel that way as well!

I work with children on a one-to-one basis, helping them explore their individual circumstances. No two children are the same, and every single child deserves an approach to treatment and support tailored to their individual needs but, just as importantly, tailored to fit your approach as a parent and family. I will sit with them, listen to them, and make them feel safe and heard, but most importantly, I will provide them with a warm and gentle space where they can learn to make connections with a safe and trusted adult. In time, this bond, this alliance we build together, will be the template for repairing other relationships in their lives. It doesn’t matter if it is trauma, bereavement, abuse, or behavioural difficulties; no child is beyond help; if they need more support than I can provide, I will work to make sure they get this.

Your child is not broken, and I am not here to fix them. I use a wide variety of tools and approaches to carry out the work that I do. This includes cognitive behavioural therapy, a person-centred approach, a trauma-informed approach, compassion-focused therapy and mindfulness. With younger children, I often take techniques from play and art therapy.

I have over 8 years of experience using mindfulness and well-being approaches for children and young people. I have found that these can be transformative in the difference they make when applied by an experienced practitioner.

As a therapist, my goal is to work with you and help you in supporting your child. This means providing you with relevant reading materials, tools to help with behavioural issues and information on helping you deal with the stress and strain of being a parent trying to support a child experiencing mental health issues.

As said earlier, from the moment you came to my page until our work together is done, you will not be alone.

~~~~~~~~~~
I specialise in working with children, giving me a powerful insight into the adults I work with. Each of us was once a child, and to some degree, we carry the scars and bruises of that childhood. Your journey from birth to adulthood was filled with moments that shaped and defined you. Together, we can peel back the problems affecting you in the present, explore their causes and put them to bed once and for all.
I have worked with people of all ages and all walks of life. There is no problem too big or small; together, we can tackle them head-on. Whether it is anxiety, depression, fears, or trauma, I will help you not only to understand your journey but reach the milestones and places in your life that have felt beyond your reach.
I believe that nothing is lacking in you. You are not broken. You are not missing something. Everything you are and everything you need is already there in you, waiting for the right moment, the right time and the right support.
If you feel that that thing is now and you are ready to take that seed and see how it will grow, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Member organisations
BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
