About me

I am a registered counsellor and member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) based in Salisbury. I offer counselling for adults and young people (16+).

At times life can be complex and present many challenges.  We sometimes have to face fear, deal with crisis and difficult issues and when our normal coping mechanisms are not enough and we are struggling to see a way forward, this is when we can seek additional support. Counselling is often the next step. It can help you to come to terms with any of life's events and the associated emotional pain and distress that accompany this.

I provide a safe, confidential space, where I help my clients explore some of their presenting issues in a nurturing and supportive way. With an empathic and non-judgemental approach, I aim to build a trusting relationship with every client I work with.

By gaining a shared understanding of your experiences, we will work together to help provide a platform for healing, in finding solutions and creating a more peaceful and fulfilling life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained to become a counsellor as I understood how much I appreciate learning about and listening to the unique life stories of each individual. To be able to sit with clients and work collaboratively to help initiate change is often a humbling and privileged position to be in.  I am experienced in working with clients with a wide variety of life issues, both adults and young people. Depression, anxiety and neurodivergence are the most common presenting conditions I see, however beneath this often lies deeper and more complex issues which is where the exploration truly begins. In the past and present I have worked with: Southampton University counselling service, Wiltshire Substance Misuse Service, Eastleigh GP referral scheme.

In my private practice I take pride in welcoming diversity and difference and I believe together, we can strive to build a stronger sense of identity and wellbeing.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
