1 in 4 of us experience mental health problems at some time in our lives. If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low in mood, having difficulty coping- counselling can provide the space and support required for change.

It may be that you are wanting to explore some underlying problems, or ongoing negative cycles, as a way to understand whats going on for you- This can encourage change and self awareness.
I offer a warm, calm and confidential space where we can work together to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in an empathic, non-judgemental way.
I believe that we all have the potential to take charge of our lives and that the therapeutic relationship can work to harness that power. Celebrating the best parts of ourselves can help us to grow or change the parts we are less confident about.
I will not judge, I will listen and help support you to make sense of things in order to help you develop a more positive approach to aspects of your life, my aim is to empower you so that you are able to make the right life choices for you.
Practising from a humanistic approach I have the ability to incorporate integrative models where appropriate, as I believe every client is unique so tailoring my approach enables me to work in ways that suit you as an individual.

Working as college counsellor at York College, and as a counsellor at 30 Clarence Street, young peoples service (now York Mind) supporting 16-25 year old's through their difficulties, I have worked with a wide range of issues- from anxiety and depression to sexual abuse and identity issues.
I work in a warm, supportive and collaborative way, making sure your voice is heard and respected to help bring you greater satisfaction and stability. I offer a safe space where you can explore your emotions at your own pace.
I have experience of working within the higher education setting, currently in the University of York as Specialist Mental Health Mentor I draw from a Solution Focused, Mindfulness and goal approach, assisting students to motivate and prioritise their studies, as a way to reduce stress and mental heath issues.
I currently combine my private practice with working for the NHS as a Mental Heath Practitioner, based in GP surgeries, I offer talking therapies to clients referred to me by their GP, providing 'tools' and coping strategies that assist in the process of making positive changes, drawing from a Cognitive Behavioural and Solution focused approach.
I have experience working for PANDAS (Pre and Post Natal Depression Advice) service, supporting women and their partners/family deal with the effects of pre and postnatal depression.
