About me

Hello and welcome, I’m glad you found me.

My name’s Claire - I'm a trauma informed Counsellor and EMDR therapist with a special interest in relational trauma, anxiety and self-esteem.

More recently, as so many of my clients experience chronic pain, I am training to offer specialist therapy for chronic pain.

I understand what it’s like to need help and how hard it can be to ask for it. You might have talked yourself in and out of it for a long time – going round in circles.  But, in challenging times it’s sometimes hard to be our own source of help.  We struggle and get stuck in survival mode.

Our survival mind convinces us that something terrible is going to happen, it gets our heart pounding and turns our legs to jelly. It tells us all the reasons we’re not good enough and really drags us down.  To top it all off it fears change and tries it's hardest to keep us in the familiar patterns, however painful they may be.

Our mind is too powerful to be left un-examined and terrorising us with its stories.

What I’ve learned from my own pain is that our stories are important and there’s healing in telling them.  With support we can turn our stories and experience into wisdom and begin to relate to ourselves from a place of compassion and understanding.

I can help

I offer a safe, trusting and relaxed place to tell your story.  I’ll never judge you or tell you what to do.  Together we look at what’s happened to you rather than what’s wrong with you.  You’ll soon realise, you’re not broken, you’re just lost!

Although it might not seem like it at the minute, I truly believe we have everything inside ourselves to be able to thrive.  Just as the body can heal and become strong, so too can the heart, mind and soul.  The trouble is that when we’re trying to do the work by ourselves it’s hard to see the blind spots.

I can help you shine a light on the blind spots and connect with your inner resilience. Together we’ll to piece together what’s fragmented and painful and you can build something new. Something better.

Together we’ll walk through the dark and lonely places but we won’t get lost there.  I’ll share tools and skills with you and I’ll keep holding the light so you have your hands free to climb out of what might feel like a very deep hole.

In our work, you’ll be reminded of your strength and reconnect with your inner power and ready to journey onwards and upwards in life again.

Think of therapy as filling up your self-care fuel tank, only a full tank can take you the distance!

Are you ready?

Therapy (including EMDR) is powerful but isn’t a silver bullet or a passive approach. Clients need to be curious and open to actively engaging in the therapy process really get the best out of it.  If you’re ready then I’m a phone call away.

Take very good care of yourself!
