MBACP Psychotherapist for Adults and Couples

About me

I am currently offering online and face to to face sessions. I am a trained and registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist and offer therapy services to; adults, couples and groups. I have extensive experience of working with a variety of different methods and approaches, these include; Transactional Analysis, Existentialism, Relational, Developmental and Attachment. I believe it is important to work with you as an individual and will combine the approach to best serve you.

Clients that tend to come to see me come from the local and surrounding areas of Hilton, Etwall, Hatton, Tutbury, Ashbourne, Uttoxeter, Burton-on-Trent and Derby.
As well as owning a Private Psychotherapeutic Practice for over 10 years, I have previously worked for; the NHS as a Staff Psychotherapist, Manchester Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Centre as a Clinical Supervisor for CAMHS and as an Associate Trainer for a training company working with businesses. Most recently I worked for an Independent Fostering Organisation, managing a Therapeutic Team as a Regional Therapeutic Manager. The therapeutic service I offered included; training, supervision and consultations for Foster Parents, Social Workers and Managers.

I have particular experience of working with issues such as; relationships, affairs, low self esteem, parenting, trauma, depression, fostering, anxiety, anger management, sexual abuse, grief, bereavement and difficulties around being on the Autistic Spectrum.

It is important for you to connect with your Counsellor/Psychotherapist and I will offer you a consultation for 30 to 40 to minutes initially at a cost of £35, to help you decide if I am the therapist for you. This will allow you to discuss your issue with me, understand how I work and for us both to decide if we would like to work together.

I work from an office in my home in Foston in Derbyshire, that offers you a comfortable, peaceful and secure environment. I also have use of the garden if you prefer to have your sessions outside in nature. There is parking at my premises and there is a bus route close by.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
