About me

I am a highly experienced Family and Systemic Psychotherapist who works with families, couples and individuals. I work face to face in Taunton, Somerset and also online.

It is usually helpful to begin with to have a conversation over the phone to discuss the issues that you would like to bring to therapy. After that we could arrange an initial consultation appointment to see if I am the right therapist for you. Sessions are 50 minutes long face to face or online and can be weekly or every 2 weeks depending on your preference. I can offer sessions during the day, evenings or at weekends. Please feel free to get in touch by phone or email and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

I have more than 20 years experience working in Child and Adolescent mental health services with children and families with a wide range of difficulties including autistic spectrum conditions, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), adoption, depression, anxiety and behavioural issues.

I also have many years experience working with couples, adult families and individuals. I am very interested and experienced in working with couples where there are communication problems and disagreements that are ongoing. Arguments can often be a symptom of an unmet emotional need in the couple relationship. Where there are children in the family, disagreements about parenting style can impact strongly on the couple relationship. I also work with couples where there has been an affair.

I have a strong interest in working with parents who are divorced or separated and want to think about how they continue to do the best that they can for their children, even though they are no longer in a relationship together. I also have a particular interest in working with fathers and men in general and have a strong awareness of the importance of fathers in family life. As is well known, men can find it hard to reach out for help when life is difficult and often also have smaller social networks than women, and so support from friends can be harder to access.

I sometimes work with a colleague when meeting with couples on-line. This can be a very useful and productive way of working, as there are two therapists thinking about the relational difficulties in the couple from both a male and female perspective..
