About me

Hello, now that you are here, let me take a moment to explain you how I can support you. Please keep reading.

If you are struggling with your mental health challenges such as BPD/EUPD, Autism, ADHD, or issues like suicide and self harm, then I am the counsellor for you, so please keep reading and judge for yourself to see how I can support you. I will try to keep this brief but informative so you can make an informed choice in working with me.

Right, now that you're here let me introduce myself and answer the question why choose me? My name is Cathryn, a qualified counsellor registered with the BACP. I'm a compassionate Integrative Counsellor specialising in BPD/EUPD, Autism, ADHD and general mental health. I also work comfortably with trauma, suicide and self-harm, and I understand the vulnerability that comes with asking for help. You are safe with me.

I have extensive personal and professional experience working with individuals navigating life with these diagnoses. I understand the emotional and mental toll these conditions can have on both the self and relationships. I am empathetic to the the stigma, shame, and low self-worth that can take hold, and I work to create an environment free of judgement.

As a counsellor, my goal is not only to help you address the challenges you face, but also to empower you with a deeper understanding of yourself and your emotions. My approach is collaborative and tailored to your specific needs, as every persons journey to healing is unique. I am here to help you move towards emotional stability, self-empowerment, and lasting growth.

In our work together I will create a safe space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. My aim is to listen without judgement, helping you feel heard and understood. I deeply recognise the stigma that many face and I promise to support you without making you feel shame, especially when you've struggled enough.

(like what you've read so far? Great keep reading as I'm almost done!)

Together, we look at identifying your triggers, and explore them in depth, helping you develop greater awareness and insight into your patterns of behaviour. You will learn emotional regulation and coping strategies that can help you manage overwhelming emotions, reduce anxiety, and build emotional resilience.

I understand that reaching out to a counsellor can feel overwhelming, especially when you are already emotionally exhausted. I also know how frustrating it can be to seek support and feel like you're being passed from one person or service to the next. With me, there are no limits on the number of sessions. Some people need more time, some need less - this process is entirely in your control.

While I can't wave a magic to make everything better (If only!) I do offer a partnership based on trust, empathy, and a commitment to helping you build a kinder and more compassionate relationship with yourself. I will also equip you with tools to cope better outside of our sessions.

If this resonates with you and you're ready to explore your emotions in a safe, supportive environment I'd love to work with you. Take the brave step of reaching out to me - I offer a free 15/20 minute introductory phone call to help you decide if I am the right fit for you. During this time, you can ask me anything you need about the counselling process.

I look forwards to speaking with you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
