About me
I build a warm, trusting relationship with clients through which we work together to find ways for you to move forward more positively. I bring compassion and years of life experience to my work, offering a safe space where you can talk freely and in confidence about anything.
I work with people who are struggling with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or relationship problems, stress at work or grief and loss. Before training as a counsellor, I worked with children in schools and with adults and teenagers in colleges and I have supported people with addiction through a mental health charity for more than 20 years.
I am a BACP registered integrative therapist and counsellor, which means I draw on different approaches to help each individual client gain an understanding and acceptance of themselves. Through talking together and exploring your difficulties with me in a caring and supportive environment, you will reconnect with your own inner resources and feel more able to cope with whatever life brings along.
As a daily practitioner of mindfulness in my own life, I naturally incorporate these methods into my work with clients, sharing tools which I think might benefit you as the need arises.
I offer weekly in-person sessions (in London) or online sessions anywhere in the UK (on Zoom) and work most weekdays and some evenings.
I give clients a first session half price (£35) to help you decide if you want to work with me. Send me an email to set this up and we can take it from there.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained at Lambeth College in London where I gained a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling which combines person-centred and psychodynamic theory.
As part of my training I worked for two years as a volunteer counsellor online and face-to-face at Help Counselling, a low cost counselling agency based in London, for two years. I also worked as a volunteer counsellor for students at South Thames College in London seeing students aged 16 and upwards on a weekly basis as part of the mental health support team.
Before qualifying as a counsellor I worked as a journalist on a health magazine, as a part time lecturer in further education and as a teaching assistant in primary schools.
I have over 20 years experience working on a voluntary basis with people in 12 step recovery from alcoholism and addiction.
In addition to my training, I have completed CPD courses in:
* Working with men and boys
* Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
* Internal Family Systems Therapy
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
