About me

I qualified as a counsellor in 2012. I gained valuable experience during my training and after qualifying within the NHS, supporting clients who had experienced bereavement and traumatic life events.

I am currently fully booked, however you can contact me to be added to the waiting list.

In addition to running my private practice, Peace & Co., I work as a counsellor in schools with young people and their families. I provide support with issues such as low self-esteem, divorce, anxiety and self-harm.

The counselling sessions will aim to support you with the challenges of modern life. The pressures of work, family life and relationships can soon build up. Bereavements, redundancy and other traumatic events can often seem overwhelming. I offer a calm, non-judgemental environment in which you can safely explore your feelings. I will work with you so that you can manage the events and emotions that sometimes make life difficult. It is my aim to offer a professional service, underpinned by the BACP's ethical framework to stand by you on your road to healing and recovery.

I recognise that taking the first step to access counselling may be daunting. Feel free to contact me by phone or email and we can arrange an initial session to talk through what counselling involves and how I may be able to help. Further sessions can be arranged weekly or fortnightly to suit you. The sessions will be reviewed regularly to ensure that you are getting the most out of them.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and ten years post qualifying experience working with young people and adults. My core approach is Person Centred counselling. This means that I will support you to find a way through your difficulties in a respectful and safe way, without giving advice.

I have additional experience and training in:

- Working with a trauma informed approach.

- Bereavement and loss.

- The ASIST Applied Suicide intervention skills programme

- Relaxation and mindfulness strategies.

- Self-harm.

- Safeguarding children and young people.

- Mental health issues.

- Domestic abuse.

- Exploring Dreams - a Gestalt approach.

- Understanding Autism in Women and Girls.

- Online and telephone counselling.

- Sand tray therapy.

- Hoarding issues

- Managing nightmares

I am on the approved therapist list for Edge Hill University for students who are currently studying counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
