About me
My name is Carima Nolten and I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor (MBACP) with a background in teaching with expertise in Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Neurodiversity. I have experience working with children and young people in a variety of settings, including Primary and Secondary schools, Private Tutoring and Sports Coaching. I offer both face - to-face and online counselling to children and young people between 4 - 17 years of age.
As a counsellor, I embrace a responsive and flexible approach, offering an empathic, non-judgemental and safe space for clients to explore and express feelings and thoughts around life experiences and challenges they may be facing in their own chosen way, whether it is through talking therapy or through various creative/play/art -based mediums.
Emotional health provides the foundation for long-term wellbeing and I believe that all children and young people deserve a safe, confidential space in which they can be supported. When children/young people feel overwhelmed by big emotions or difficult circumstances, healthy development can become stuck, impacting learning, behaviour and overall wellbeing.
Creative Counselling combines talking therapies with creative interventions. Creative, Play and Art-based approaches are beneficial ways for children/young people to process complex feelings and thoughts, by giving expression, movement, shape and colour to life experiences in a way that often words alone can't do.
Online counselling can be particularly helpful for clients (12 years +) who struggle with social anxiety, illness or find being in new places challenging or simply find it more convenient and comfortable being in their own environment. Clients get to engage in an online therapeutic space , with the options of using both interactive online games/sand tray or creative tools, and through home-based creative materials.

I have diverse experience working with children and young people in a variety of settings, including Primary and Secondary schools, Private Tutoring and Sports Coaching. I have extensive knowledge and experience in providing both academic and therapeutic support, especially across Neurodiversity.
Alongside private practice, I also manage a counselling service within a London school, where I support children through one-to one counselling and group work, while simultaneously embracing a whole school approach, offering support and psycho-education for teaching staff and parents.
I am skilled in Talking Therapy, Play Therapy, Sand-tray Therapy, Creative Arts-based Therapies to name a few.
Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
