About me

Hi, I'm Brian. Whether you have a specific problem, just need someone to talk with, or anything in-between, I'm looking forward to collaborating with you on a path toward growth.

In my approach, the therapeutic relationship takes precedence. Meaning, how we work together is more important to me than any technique or theory I may employ.

This means that in our sessions, you can expect a safe and non-judgmental space. I'll always respect your pace, and we'll work together in a way that honors your autonomy to work in a collaborative relationship built on equity and mutual respect.

Our sessions can go any direction. If you want to explore your current state, work to change behaviour, or wish to delve into your past, I am here to listen and guide you along the way.

When working together, I draw from a foundation of humanism, person-centred therapy and existentialism, emphasising your individual capacity for growth. Further, I incorporate elements of psychodynamic therapy and CBT to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, how your past is affecting the present, and to help take tangible steps toward change.

My ultimate aim is to work with you as equals to create a space where we can explore your unique experience, gaining insights and acquiring new ways to make lasting changes.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have earned an MSc in Counselling from Bangor University.

I have experience working with survivors of sexual assault, visually impaired populations, and general population counselling services.

I further have experience with a plethora of issues, such as anxiety, stress, trauma, depression, relationship/family dynamics, anger management, bereavement, lack of purpose, among others.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
