About me
My core approach to counselling is person centred, I am all about the unique and individual experience that we travel as human beings.
I use humanistic approaches and integrate these where they may be of use to you.
I am interested in what matters to you and what has led you to explore counselling, it is often when we have a sense of wanting change or recognising that things don't feel right for us, that we start to explore what may help and benefit us.
Training, qualifications & experience
I bring many years of experience of working with people into my counselling practice, I have worked in statutory services within the NHS and Social Services as well as working in the third sector.
My interest in people, systems and processes led me to completing a degree in the Social Sciences. I was drawn to the psychology modules, these were the spark to realising I wanted to work differently and this led me into the world of therapy and counselling training.
I hold a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and have extensive personal and professional experience of supporting people with neuro-diversity, as well as parents and carers.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Research shows us that it is the therapeutic relationship above the modality that is fundamental to effective therapy, it is important that we both feel able to connect and relate to each other. An initial introductory phone call helps this process and is an opportunity for you to find out more about how I work and if we may be a 'good fit' to work together. There is no expectation on either side to commit to sessions, if this doesn't feel right or if what I offer isn't what feels most helpful for you.
