About me

I offer a safe, caring, non-judgmental space for you to explore your troubling feelings and thoughts.  I walk alongside you, listen to your stories, help you connect with those painful parts and support you to gain the tools to improve your life.

I am a Therapeutic Counsellor, and my practice is based in Oxton, Wirral. It is an Integrated practice which means that I draw upon theories such as Person Client-Centred, CBT and Transactional Analysis; this allows my approach to adapt to fit the unique individual client. Being client-centred means I put the client at the centre of everything as they are the expert of their own experience.

MY APPROACH

My approach is guided and informed by Person Centered Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Solution Focused Therapy, Breathwork but essentially, I am influenced by you. I will take a holistic approach to your feelings; exploring your past and any patterns or beliefs that may be holding you back. I will challenge and guide you in the sessions, but we will always work at your pace, and you won't be pushed to talk about anything you're not ready or able to.

Being a Holistic Therapist I also work with acute and chronic physical stress illness from the whole person perspective. Focussing on addressing the somatic, emotional impact and its physical manifestations.

WHAT I OFFER

I can offer a combination of Talk Therapy and Body Somatic Therapy for effective emotional and traumatic healing. This approach allows you to have a greater understanding of your emotional triggers and responding patterns of behaviour which facilitates growth and self-development.

I also provide Walking and Talking Therapy which is very popular and useful. Being out in the open can be more beneficial for you.

THE THERAPEUTIC RELATIONSHIP

I am passionate about what counselling can do to help improve lives. I'm committed to making sure that everyone I work with feels heard, accepted, and understood. Central to my practice is building a strong therapeutic relationship with you. I see therapy as a process of working together exploring what can help improve how you feel. It may be through adopting new awareness, new perspective or through finding new coping skills to help manage challenges and seek help before it becomes overwhelming.

I believe that a secure therapeutic relationship allows connection to the true self, beliefs, and values. It can also support finding greater peace of mind. Together we can discuss your concerns and look at your experiences in a non-judgmental, accepting environment. I will not make decisions for you or impose my own opinion as I believe each person holds their own solutions within themselves. I have witnessed how clients have transformative lightbulb moments, new points of awareness and new perspectives that become clearer. I will always have you best interest at heart.

EXPERIENCE

My experience includes working with young people, adults, and the elderly in private work and as a volunteer for various charities. I do have the skills and experience to enable you to begin to find your own way through difficult times.

After going through several difficult times in my own life I sought help from a therapist. It was a life changing growth experience for me and one which has given me the ability to lead a happier and more spiritual fulfilled life. I have personal experience of the life changing nature of counselling and work hard to ensure I can give everyone I work with the same transformative experience I had.

I have over 30 years of personal experience of participating in Gestalt Groups and workshops. My journey through personal therapy and my subsequent training as a Counsellor have shown me how powerful counselling can be. For anyone who may be considering starting therapy for the first time, be assured that the decision to start counselling will be one of the bravest you have ever made but, potentially, one of the best.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
